ZAMBIA PREPARED FOR ARRIVAL AND STATE FUNERAL OF LATE PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has announced the arrival of the remains of the late Sixth Republican President, His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, scheduled for Wednesday, 18th June 2025 at 14:00 Hours, at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport’s Presidential Pavilion.

According to a press statement issued by Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick K. Kangwa, the arrival will be marked by a Military Honours Ceremony conducted by the Defence Force. Attendance at this solemn event will be strictly by invitation.

To ensure wider public participation, the Military Honours Ceremony will be broadcast live on ZNBC, ZANIS TV, Prime TV, Diamond TV and other media platforms.

Following the ceremony, the late President’s remains will be moved to his Private Residence at Plot No. 56660, Chifwema Road in New Kasama, where they will lie in the state.

In addition, Belvedere Lodge has been designated as the official venue for the State Funeral, which will be held throughout the National Mourning period.

To give members of the public an opportunity to pay their final respects, the body will lie in state at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre from Thursday, 19th to Saturday, 21st June 2025, between 09:00 Hours and 16:00 Hours each day.

The Government has urged the public to continue mourning the late Sixth President with dignity and respect as the nation reflects on his legacy and leadership.
