Lusaka – July 19, 2025 – The Zambia Police Service has made a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigations into the gruesome aggravated robbery and murder that took place in the early hours of July 17, 2025, at Rubis Filling Station in Hellen Kaunda.
During the attack, a group of criminals violently assaulted on-duty fuel attendants, tragically killing Sibeso Akaliwa and severely injuring Mapalo Mwelwa, 25. The assailants fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money believed to be the station’s daily earnings.
In a swift and determined response, the Zambia Police Anti-Robbery Squad has arrested eight suspects in connection with the crime. Shockingly, two of those detained are the security guards who were supposed to be on duty during the attack but mysteriously vanished after the incident.
Police efforts are ongoing to recover key evidence, including weapons, clothing, and other items used during the robbery—materials expected to significantly strengthen the case during prosecution.
The Zambia Police Service has reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to ensuring justice is served and urges the public to continue supporting the investigation by sharing any relevant information.
Further updates will follow as the case develops.
