MORGAN MUUNDA COMMIT OVER K70,000 AND VEHICLE DONATION TO UCZ, ST. LUKES IN MISISI

Member of Parliament for Chawama Constituency under the United Party for National Development (UPND), Morgan Muunda, has pledged a donation exceeding K70,000 to support UCZ St. Luke’s Congregation in Misisi, underscoring his commitment to faith-based community development and people-centered leadership.

‎The generous contribution is aimed at helping the church acquire benches for congregants, following an appeal made by the Church. The congregation representative Rev. Brian Chembe of St. Margaret’s Church under the Central Presbytery, outlined the challenges the congregation is facing due to a lack of adequate seating infrastructure.

However the ‎widely known in the community as “The Big Machine,” Mr. Muunda has not just pledged cash but also committed to donate a vehicle to the church within the week, to aid its various programs and outreach efforts. In addition, he committed K10,000 as a women’s empowerment allowance to support the female members of the congregation in their spiritual and economic initiatives.

‎During the event, Mr. Muunda officially declared his intention to contest the Chawama parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections, citing the need for responsive leadership that addresses pressing local challenges such as flooding, water shortages, poor drainage infrastructure and rising youth unemployment.

‎“I was born, raised and continue to live in Chawama. I witness firsthand the struggles of our people. While others have remained silent, I am stepping up to become the voice of Chawama in Parliament,” he passionately stated.

‎Mr. Muunda further promised to include faith leaders in the CDF (Constituency Development Fund) committees to ensure transparent and equitable distribution of resources across the constituency. He also committed to prioritizing youth, women and senior citizens through inclusive, faith-aligned developmental programs.

‎Reaffirming his allegiance to the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, Muunda said:

‎“Past regimes broke the system, but under President HH, we are seeing reform, hope and delivery. I want to help bring that same transformation to Chawama.”
