Aspiring Member of Parliament for Chawama Constituency under the United Party for National Development (UPND), Morgan Muunda, has donated K50,000 in cash to support the acquisition of a public address (PA) system for gospel music group Marvelous Shields Music, highlighting his commitment to spiritual upliftment and youth empowerment as cornerstones of national development.
Mr. Muunda, who was the guest of honour at the Marvelous Shields Music PA System Fundraising Concert, called on Zambian youth to embrace spiritual growth and disciplined lifestyles, inspired by the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
“Our nation needs a generation of spiritually awakened and disciplined youth. Your music ministry is more than entertainment, it is a transformative tool for society. Supporting you is a moral obligation,” Muunda told the crowd gathered at Kamulanga School in Jack Compound.
A representative of Marvelous Shields shared the challenges faced by the group, explaining that they often spend up to K2,000 hiring a PA system each time they are invited to perform. The group reached out to Mr. Muunda, Known as (the big machine) who responded with a generous K50,000 donation towards the purchase of their own equipment, along with K8,000 in appreciation of the choir and event team.
Additionally, Mr. Muunda pledged K10,000 to Marrimuso Praise Production to support the production of the group’s music video and pledged to award them a K30,000 contract to produce campaign materials for his 2026 parliamentary bid.
In a passionate address, Mr. Muunda formally announced his intention to run for the Chawama parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections, citing urgent local issues such as poor drainage systems, water shortages and youth unemployment.
“I was born, raised and continue to live in Chawama. I witness firsthand the hardships faced by our people, flooding, water scarcity, lack of opportunities, while leadership has remained absent. I am stepping forward to be the voice of Chawama in Parliament,” he declared.
Mr. Muunda, emphasized that his campaign will focus on meaningful community engagement and youth inclusion through faith-based initiatives. He also reaffirmed his allegiance to the UPND government, pledging to align with President Hichilema’s vision for national transformation.
“Past regimes broke the system. But under President HH, we see reform, hope, and delivery. I want to be part of that new chapter for Chawama,” Muunda concluded.
