Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander, Lieutenant General Engineer Maliti Solochi II, has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to both service personnel and surrounding communities through CJ Nyirenda Hospital.
Speaking during an appreciation tour of the facility by Mr. Terry Douglas Shaw, Immediate Past President of the Adventist Health Systems, General Solochi expressed gratitude for the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s continued contribution to healthcare globally.
He described Mr. Shaw’s visit as a symbol of partnership and shared commitment to serving humanity beyond denominational lines.
The ZNS Commander highlighted that CJ Nyirenda Hospital, which serves a catchment population of over 28,500 people, the majority being civilians, has made significant strides in healthcare delivery.
The facility currently boasts a modern laboratory, a physiotherapy department and a specialised eye unit offering services that include the fitting of eyeglasses.
However, he noted that the hospital remains a work in progress, with the construction of a multi-storey extension underway to expand bed capacity and improve service delivery.
He appealed for partnerships to support the completion of the facility and the procurement of additional medical equipment, including advanced diagnostic tools.
“We view your visit not just as an appreciation tour but as the opening of a window of possible partnership. With your networks and vast experience, we believe you can help us realise the dream of a fully-fledged hospital that continues to bring hope, healing, and dignity to thousands of Zambians,” General Solochi said.
He further emphasised the need for continued collaboration with institutions and organisations to ensure the hospital fulfills its vision of delivering world-class healthcare to the community.
