The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) today introduced the newly appointed Copper Queens Head Coach, Ms. Nora Hauptle, to the government in a formal ceremony that underscored Zambia’s commitment to the advancement of women’s football.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, applauded FAZ for its strategic decision to entrust the team’s future to a coach with a solid track record.
“After extensive consultations with FAZ, it became evident that tactical innovation was required to elevate the Copper Queens to new heights.
Nora Hauptle stood out as the ideal candidate to bring the necessary expertise. Her appointment reflects our shared ambition to strengthen the team and build on the remarkable legacy left by Bruce Mwape,” Hon. Nkandu said.
The Minister reiterated the New Dawn Government’s unwavering support for the Copper Queens and urged the team to focus on delivering results that will inspire national pride.
“As a government, we are prepared to invest in the success of women’s football. Results are key, and with success, you will gain the admiration and backing of fans across the country,” Hon. Nkandu added.
Coach Nora Hauptle, in her first public remarks, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead one of Africa’s most promising women’s teams.
“I’m aware of the high expectations, but I thrive under pressure. I see tremendous potential in this team and am committed to creating an environment where players can excel. Together, we can achieve great things,” Hauptle said.
She highlighted her immediate focus on the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in July, where she aims to guide the Copper Queens to their first-ever final.
“The team has already shown its capability by reaching the semifinals in the past. Now, it’s time to aim for the top,” Hauptle declared, emphasizing her vision for fostering both individual and collective growth within the team.
The introduction of Ms. Hauptle signals a new chapter for the Copper Queens as they prepare to compete on the continental stage and solidify their status as one of Africa’s elite women’s football teams.
