The Government through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has taken bold steps to elevate the nation’s creative industries through strategic international partnerships.
The Permanent Secretary Mr. Chama held high-level discussions with representatives from the British Council and the Swedish Embassy to chart a collaborative path forward.
During a meeting with Dr. Lloyd Anderson, British Council Country Director, preparations for the 2025 Creative Industries Business Summit took center stage.
Scheduled for June 18-21, the summit aims to unite creative professionals from across Africa, fostering regional cooperation, innovation, and growth within the sector.
The conversation also included plans for the National Arts Centre, which is set to be constructed within the University of Zambia grounds, highlighting the government’s commitment to nurturing local talent and infrastructure development.
In a separate engagement, Mr. Chama met with Swedish Ambassador Mr. Johan Hallenborg to explore avenues for deeper collaboration in the arts and creative business sectors.
Sweden expressed enthusiasm for strengthening ties and supporting joint initiatives to boost Zambia’s creative economy.
Mr. Chama reaffirmed the government’s vision to position the creative industry as a vital economic pillar while empowering youth through investments in their artistic potential.
These engagements underscore the Ministry’s resolve to leverage international expertise and resources, transforming Zambia’s creative sector into a dynamic contributor to the nation’s economic growth.
