Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia.
The Government of the Republic of Zambia has officially commissioned the upgraded Chisakano Road in Chifubu Constituency—a transformative infrastructure project made possible through the Enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Valued at K2.9 million, the project is already making a visible impact on local commerce, access, and community well-being.
Commissioned by Copperbelt Province Minister Hon. Elisha Matambo, the newly paved road is part of a broader national agenda to localize development through targeted CDF investment. The initiative brings services and opportunities closer to the people by directly funding priority community projects, including infrastructure upgrades, youth skills training, educational bursaries, and business grants.
Hon. Matambo, joined by local and district officials including Ndola Mayor His Worship Jones Kalyati and Chifubu MP Mr. Lloyd Lubozha, underscored that the road’s rehabilitation is more than just a construction milestone—it is an enabler of long-term economic resilience.
“Better roads mean better business,” Minister Matambo said. “This road is already improving market access for traders, connecting communities, and laying the groundwork for job creation and economic mobility in Chifubu.”
The project has eased congestion, enhanced the movement of goods and services, and strengthened linkages within Ndola District. For traders operating around the Chifubu Market, the improved road is not only boosting foot traffic but also reducing transportation costs—making their businesses more viable and sustainable.
Residents, too, are benefiting from safer, more reliable travel, with the durable road surface expected to significantly reduce maintenance costs for years to come.
Mr. Stwert Kapoba, Chairperson of the Chifubu Constituency CDF Committee, noted that the road rehabilitation reflects the power of community-driven development. “CDF is not just a fund—it is a tool for self-empowerment. It brings development decisions closer to the people, and the results are clear.”
The Chisakano Road upgrade is a tangible example of the government’s commitment to decentralizing development and promoting inclusive economic participation. As Zambia continues to roll out enhanced CDF projects nationwide, communities are being equipped to shape their own futures—one road, one school, one business at a time.
