Chief Machiya of Mpongwe District has praised the government for implementing the Cash for Work (CfW) initiative, highlighting its significant impact on communities across Zambia, particularly in his chiefdom.

The Cash for Work program, a New Dawn Government-driven initiative under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, provides temporary employment through public works projects. Designed to support vulnerable communities facing economic challenges and drought-related hardships, the program offers financial relief while fostering infrastructure development.

As Chairman of the Lamba Lima Royal Council of Chiefs, Chief Machiya emphasized that the initiative has greatly benefited his people by improving household incomes and ensuring food security. He noted that many families in his chiefdom have been able to secure decent meals and meet their daily needs through the program.

“This initiative has been a game-changer for my people. Many households are benefiting, and we are seeing real improvements in their well-being. I extend my gratitude to the New Dawn Government, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, for this commendable effort,” Chief Machiya stated.

The Cash for Work program continues to be a vital tool in poverty alleviation and community development, aligning with the government’s broader strategy to enhance rural livelihoods and economic resilience.
