Copper Queens Triumph Over Malawi in Friendly Match

The Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, claimed a 2-0 win over Malawi in their FIFA international friendly, which was played over two days due to weather disruptions.

The match began on Saturday 22nd February 2025 but was halted midway due to adverse weather conditions. Play resumed today, and the Copper Queens wasted no time asserting their dominance. Avell Chitundu had already given Zambia the lead in the 20th minute before the interruption. When the game resumed, Racheal Kundananji sealed the victory with a goal in the 79th minute.

This match also marked the debut of Zambia’s new head coach, who started her tenure with a well-earned victory. The team showed great resilience and adaptability, bouncing back strongly after the delay.

The Copper Queens will now shift their focus to the second friendly against Malawi, set for Tuesday at 15:00 at the REIZ Arena.
