Solwezi, North Western, Province.

In a strategic move to foster stronger ties between government and faith based institutions, North Western Province Minister Hon. Robert Lihefu, MP, today held a high level engagement with clergymen from various Christian denominations at Open Doors Mission Church (PAOG) in Solwezi.

Accompanied by Provincial Permanent Secretary Col. Grandson Katambi (Rtd) and Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Luckson Mulumbi, Hon. Lihefu used the meeting to outline key developmental priorities under the New Dawn Administration. The dialogue focused on how government initiatives can work in synergy with the Church to uplift communities across the province.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted transformative government programs such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) the Free Education Policy and the Cash for Work initiative. These programs, he said, are designed to promote inclusive development, improve access to education, and provide economic relief to vulnerable populations.

Hon. Lihefu commended the Church for its enduring role in promoting national values, social cohesion and moral guidance. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and emphasized that collaboration with the faith community is essential for sustainable progress.

“We recognize the Church not only as a spiritual institution but as a key development partner. Your voice and insight are vital as we work to address the real needs of our people,” said Hon. Lihefu.

Representing the clergy, Rev. Miselo Musonda welcomed the government’s open door approach and expressed appreciation for its outreach to faith leaders. However, he also raised concerns about persistent challenges in social service delivery and infrastructure development in the region.

In response, Hon. Lihefu assured the clergy that the New Dawn Government remains attentive to the needs of the province. He pledged that concerns raised during the meeting would be addressed, with particular attention from the central government under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership.

The meeting marked a significant step in reinforcing government church collaboration aimed at enhancing community well being and aligning development goals with moral and ethical leadership.
