The Copperbelt Provincial Delivery Unit (PDU) has intensified its oversight of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Chingola District, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that government funded initiatives deliver tangible benefits to communities.

Led by Copperbelt Province Deputy Permanent Secretary and PDU focal point, Mr. Daniel Kamenga, the unit is conducting a series of on-site inspections covering critical infrastructure and social service projects. These include the upgrading of feeder roads, construction of school facilities, maternity annexes, improvement of hospital drug supplies and the drilling of boreholes to enhance water access in key institutions.

Mr. Kamenga underscored that the inspections aim to not only verify progress but also enforce strict quality assurance measures. He stressed that projects must meet the highest standards before being handed over to the public, warning that any detected deficiencies will prompt immediate corrective action from contractors.

“We cannot afford to hand over substandard infrastructure to our communities. If quality is compromised, contractors will be compelled to address the shortcomings before any commissioning is done,” Mr. Kamenga stated firmly.

He noted that this rigorous approach aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of delivering impactful and sustainable development through the increased CDF allocation, which now stands at K36.1 million per constituency. This significant boost in funding, Mr. Kamenga said, places an even greater responsibility on stakeholders to ensure the resources translate into high number quality projects that address local needs.

Furthermore, Mr. Kamenga appealed to contractors to adhere strictly to agreed timelines and standards, emphasizing that the PDU will maintain close monitoring to prevent delays and ensure timely project delivery.

“Our communities deserve the best. It is our duty to ensure that every Kwacha spent delivers lasting value and contributes to improved livelihoods,” he added.
