The Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing digital efficiency in the mining sector by addressing technical challenges in the recently launched Zambia Integrated Mining Information System (ZIMIS).

Following extensive testing, including user acceptance evaluations, the system has encountered unforeseen technical issues impacting service delivery. In response, the Ministry has mobilized a dedicated troubleshooting team consisting of system users and key stakeholders to ensure optimal functionality in real-time operations.

A critical component of the ZIMIS transition is the authorized user registration process for both individuals and corporate entities. This step is essential to safeguarding client interests and requires entities to grant Power of Attorney to authorized representatives, linking them to all associated mining licenses.

To facilitate continued access to essential services such as mining rights applications, area charge payments, and statutory report submissions, the Ministry has streamlined alternative processes. Clients facing payment challenges through Zamportal can now deposit fees directly into the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Revenue Transit Account, with proof of payment submitted to the Mining Cadastre Department for official processing. Additionally, statutory reports can be submitted in both electronic and hard copy formats to the relevant departments.

Crucially, the Ministry assures all stakeholders that no existing licenses will be affected by the transition from the previous Trimble Land Folio System to ZIMIS. All current mining and non-mining rights remain valid under the new platform.

To enhance user experience, the Ministry is actively gathering feedback from stakeholders and encourages affected users to report any technical difficulties via email (mining.cadastre@mmmd.gov.zm) or through the help desk (+260 954 652201).

While acknowledging the temporary inconveniences, the New Dawn Government, through the Ministry of Mines, remains committed to ensuring a seamless digital transformation in the mining sector and will provide regular updates on ZIMIS enhancements.
