A Historic Coronation at Namuso Kuta
In a grand and culturally profound ceremony, His Majesty the Litunga, Imwiko II, the revered monarch of Barotseland, presided over the installation of twelve distinguished Indunas at the sacred Namuso Kuta. This ceremonial event, deeply embedded in Lozi tradition, signifies not only the preservation of heritage but also a progressive step towards revitalizing the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) with a blend of seasoned wisdom and youthful energy.
Held in the esteemed Limulunga Royal Village, the coronation was marked by royal pageantry, traditional rites, and the symbolic crowning with Mishukwe by Induna Mutwaleti. These newly appointed Indunas, entrusted with the sacred duty of governance, bring a renewed sense of leadership and commitment to safeguarding the values and traditions of Barotseland.

With five dynamic young leaders among the appointees, the Litunga’s vision for a resilient and innovative governance structure is evident.
