Hon. Mike Elton Mposha, Member of Parliament for Munali and Minister of Green Economy and Environment, has applauded the dedication and service of management and staff at Chainama Hospital, describing their work as “phenomenal.”

During a meeting with the hospital’s senior management and staff this morning, Hon. Mposha expressed his appreciation for their commitment to mental health care.

“As your area Member of Parliament, I am deeply grateful and proud of the remarkable work you are doing here at Chainama,” he stated. “Despite the stigma and discrimination that often surround mental health, you continue to bridge the gap between your clients and society.”

Hon. Mposha underscored the importance of mental health, emphasizing that everyone is a potential mental health patient due to life’s unpredictable challenges.

“It is reassuring to know that there are dedicated professionals like you who are committed to helping those in need,” he said.

Responding to remarks from Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Margaret Chibowa and other staff members, Hon. Mposha reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare institutions such as Chainama Hospital.

“The government is always motivated to invest more when it sees committed professionals working hard to improve services,” he noted. “As your area Member of Parliament, my office remains open for engagements like today’s meeting.”

He acknowledged the challenges facing the institution and assured the hospital team that efforts would be made to address them.

“Some issues will be tackled immediately, while others may require a longer-term approach. However, rest assured that we are committed to finding solutions,” he assured.

Highlighting past initiatives, Hon. Mposha cited the successful construction of a 1X3 classroom block at Chainama Special School, which was funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) last year.

“This is a testament to the New Dawn Government’s commitment to working closely with experts like you to implement impactful projects,” he said.

Following the meeting, Hon. Mposha toured various departments and wards to gain firsthand insight into the hospital’s operations and challenges.

Accompanying him were his Professional Assistant, Joe Mwansa Lombe Kaluba, Senior Planner Anne K. Mufaya, and Principal Public Relations Officer from the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Harriet M. Chimuka.

After the engagement, Hon. Mposha proceeded to prepare for the afternoon Parliamentary Business.
