Kasama, Northern Province, Zambia.
In a major stride toward strengthening Zambia’s healthcare infrastructure, Kasama General Hospital in Northern Province has unveiled a newly commissioned oxygen production plant ushering in a new era of self reliance and resilience in medical oxygen supply.
The facility, described as state of the art, is expected to play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes, particularly in emergency and critical care services where timely access to oxygen is vital.
Speaking during the commissioning, Minister of Health Dr. Elijah Muchima emphasized the strategic importance of the development, noting that the plant would drastically reduce the logistical and financial strain associated with transporting oxygen cylinders from distant locations.
“This initiative directly addresses longstanding oxygen shortages and positions Northern Province to respond more effectively to both routine and emergency medical needs,” Dr. Muchima stated.
The plant is part of the New Dawn Government’s broader national effort to decentralize critical health services and enhance regional capacity in line with Zambia’s Universal Health Coverage agenda.
