The North Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Luckson Mulumbi, visited Kasempa district to inspect and monitor the progress of key government-funded projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and infrastructure development in the area.
During his visit, Mr. Mulumbi underscored President Hakainde Hichilema’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and equitable development. He reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s resolve to uplift rural communities through strategic, sector-driven investments aimed at improving the quality of life for all citizens.
Key Development Highlights:
- Establishment of a Local Milling Plant
In a significant move to boost local food processing and improve access to affordable mealie meal, the government has allocated K3 million towards the construction of a milling plant in Kasempa. Land has already been secured for the project, and foundational work is currently underway. - Improved Access to Clean Water
As part of the New Dawn Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public welfare through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), new water reticulation centres have been established in Muselepete and Lufupa Secondary School. These installations are providing residents and students with a reliable supply of clean water, addressing long-standing challenges in water access. - Ensuring Food Security
The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has stocked sufficient quantities of staple foods in the district, with the aim of stabilizing food availability. This measure will cushion residents against shortages and help maintain food security, particularly in vulnerable communities. - Cultural Infrastructure Development
In recognition of the role of traditional leadership, the government is nearing completion of a new palace for Chief Ingwe. This initiative reflects the state’s respect for traditional institutions and its commitment to preserving cultural heritage while enhancing the dignity of traditional leaders. - Strengthening Healthcare Delivery
Mukinge’s main hospital has received an improved and consistent supply of essential medicines, in line with directives from President Hakainde Hichilema. This effort is part of a broader strategy to strengthen healthcare systems and ensure residents have access to quality medical services. - Road Infrastructure to Spur Connectivity
To address transportation challenges, the Road Development Agency (RDA) is set to begin work on critical road networks within the district. Once completed, the improved road infrastructure is expected to facilitate easier movement of goods and people, boosting local economic activity.
