In a remarkable show of appreciation for uniformed personnel, Kulima Tower Bus Station celebrated Police Day in grand style by sponsoring free transport for police officers and extending the gesture to other uniformed service members. This initiative, unprecedented in its scope, highlighted the station’s commitment to recognizing and supporting those who serve the nation.

The beneficiaries of this initiative included not only officers from the Zambia Police Service but also personnel from the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force, Zambia National Service, Zambia Correctional Service, Immigration Department, Zambia Revenue Authority, Zambia Wildlife Authority, Council Police, Fire brigade, Road Transport and Safety Agency, Drug Enforcement Commission, and Anti-Corruption Commission. Additionally, doctors, nurses, and pregnant women were also included, demonstrating a broad commitment to honoring public service workers.

The event, held at Kulima Tower Bus Station, was graced by Hon. Gary Nkombo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, alongside Deputy Mayor of Lusaka Ketty Nanyangwe, UPND Deputy Secretary General Gertrude Imenda, senior government officials, and police representatives. The presence of these high-ranking dignitaries underscored the significance of the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Nkombo praised the Kulima Tower Chairman, Mr. Nicolas Banda, and his leadership team for their outstanding generosity and initiative. He emphasized that such a community-led gesture had never been witnessed before in Zambia, commending it as a shining example of public-private cooperation in supporting civil servants.

“This initiative is a testament to the spirit of appreciation and solidarity within our communities. It complements the UPND government’s efforts under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, who has prioritized restoring order and ensuring a peaceful, organized environment in Lusaka’s Central Business District,” he stated.

The celebration was not just about free transport—it was a full-scale event featuring live musical performances, bringing together musicians to honor the dedication and sacrifices of uniformed personnel. The atmosphere was vibrant, with attendees expressing gratitude for the acknowledgment of their service.

The Kulima Tower Bus Station leadership hopes that this initiative will inspire other communities and organizations to step forward in supporting those who work tirelessly to maintain law, order, and public safety. The gesture aligns with President Hichilema’s broader vision of fostering community-driven appreciation for public servants.

With this successful celebration, Kulima Tower Bus Station has set a precedent—proving that acts of appreciation, no matter how big or small, can strengthen the bond between the public and those who serve the nation.
