The Likumbi Lya Mize Cultural Association has made an earnest appeal to corporate entities to support this year’s Likumbi Lya Mize Traditional Ceremony through sponsorship.
Association Chairman Isaac Kanguya highlighted that the ceremony, now globally recognized, continues to draw large crowds annually, creating an ideal platform for businesses to promote their goods and services to both local and international audiences.
Mr. Kanguya expressed confidence that the 2025 edition of the ceremony would attract even greater numbers of tourists and cultural enthusiasts. He revealed that preparations are well underway to ensure a memorable and successful event.
In particular, Mr. Kanguya called on Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) and emerging telecommunications firm ZedMobile to seize the opportunity to market their brands by partnering with the ceremony. He further extended an invitation to all cooperating partners, sponsors, government agencies, private sector players, and lovers of tradition to support the initiative and attend a Fundraising Dinner, scheduled for Friday, 6th June at the Government Complex.
This year’s Likumbi Lya Mize Traditional Ceremony will be held from 17th to 23rd August in Zambezi District, North-Western Province.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kanguya issued a stern warning against the misuse of the sacred Makishi ritual, condemning the actions of individuals who exploit the tradition for personal gain. He emphasized that the Association will not hesitate to take action against anyone found violating the sacred rules governing the Makishi practice.
He reiterated the Association’s commitment to preserving the authenticity and sanctity of the Makishi tradition, underscoring its cultural and spiritual significance to the community.
