Kalumbila, North Western Province, Zambia.
In a significant stride towards environmental education and community engagement, Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Hon. Mike Mposha, has officially commissioned the Nvumabaranda Radio Station in Kalumbila District. The K3 million project, established by Nvumabaranda Group of Companies, is designed to serve as a dedicated platform for promoting green growth, environmental stewardship, and climate change awareness.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Mposha underscored the critical role the media plays in fostering environmental consciousness. He called on parents to begin environmental education at home, teaching children the importance of protecting natural resources and understanding the risks of climate change. The Minister further committed to returning to the station for interactive sessions with school pupils in Kalumbila, empowering the next generation to champion sustainability in their schools and communities.
Nvumabaranda Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kennedy Induna, emphasized that the station will not only raise public awareness but also serve as a continuous educational tool, reaching rural and urban audiences alike with information on recycling, conservation, and responsible resource management.
Hon. Mposha urged media stakeholders — including radio, television, and digital platforms — to play an active role in Zambia’s environmental advocacy, describing them as essential tools for informing and mobilizing the public around green growth initiatives.
He reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s commitment, under President Hakainde Hichilema, to foster partnerships that promote environmental protection and climate resilience, ensuring that every Zambian has access to knowledge that supports a greener, healthier future.
