‎Infrastructure Minister Charles Milupi has warned AVIC International, the contractor upgrading the 80-kilometer Katunda–Lukulu–Watopa–Mumbezhi Road to prioritize hiring local people, stressing that this is not a favor but a binding New Dawn Government policy.

‎He said jobs must go to youths and women from Kaoma, Mangango and Lukulu, while local small-scale contractors will also benefit through subcontracts.

‎“This government will not compromise, projects must deliver jobs and business for local communities. That is non-negotiable,” Milupi stated.

‎The project forms part of President Hakainde Hichilema’s economic transformation agenda, which aims to double Zambia’s GDP within five years.
