MINISTER MPOSHA PAYS COURTESY CALL ON CHIEFS AHEAD OF CLIMATE AGREEMENT SIGNING

Minister of Green Economy and Environment Hon. Mike Elton Mposha, MP yesterday paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Lwembe and Chieftainess Kawaza ahead of the signing of key climate agreements and the launch of a honey processing plant in Chipata.
Accompanied by Dr. Douty Chibamba, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry and Mr. Paul Thole, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, the Minister conveyed President Hichilema’s appreciation for traditional leaders’ support in environmental stewardship.
Hon. Mposha urged continued cooperation in implementing the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EP-JSLP), while the chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to forest protection and equitable benefit sharing from carbon initiatives.
The courtesy call preceded the signing of the Nested Emission Reduction Performance Agreement (NERPA), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the launch of a honey processing plant, all held at Protea Hotel Chipata.
The event was attended by stakeholders including Eastern Province Minister Hon. Peter Simon Phiri, MP, World Bank Country Manager Mr. Achim Fock, COMACO CEO Dr. Dale Lewis, and Chipata Mayor Mr. George Mwanza.
