The Ministry of Tourism has successfully concluded a pivotal bilateral meeting with the Honourable Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, and her delegation.
On the Zambian side, the delegation was led by Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, alongside Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga and senior government officials. The discussions centered on fostering deeper cooperation between Zambia and Ghana in tourism development, cultural exchange, and sectoral growth.
The meeting provided a critical opportunity for both nations to align their efforts towards promoting tourism and enhancing cultural ties. Key topics included strategies to improve tourism flows, with a particular focus on strengthening collaboration between public and private sector players in both countries.
One of the major takeaways was the shared commitment to advancing hospitality and tourism skills, recognizing the importance of training initiatives to elevate service standards within the industry. Both sides agreed to explore joint training programs and exchange opportunities aimed at boosting expertise across the sector.
The talks also emphasized the need for improved visa facilitation mechanisms to simplify travel and encourage greater movement of tourists and investors. Both governments acknowledged that streamlining visa processes and considering potential visa waivers would be instrumental in enhancing regional mobility and economic interactions.
