North Western Province, Zambia.
North Western Province has officially launched its National Mobile Registration Exercise, a government-led initiative aimed at issuing National Registration Cards (NRCs) to all eligible Zambians aged 16 and above.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security through the Department of National Registration, Passport, and Citizenship, the initiative is a critical part of the government’s strategy to ensure every citizen is documented and can access national services.
The exercise, which commenced on April 10 and will continue through July 6, 2025, involves the establishment of temporary registration centers across the province to bring services closer to the people.
In a proactive move to engage communities, North Western Province Permanent Secretary Col. Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (Rtd) has embarked on a sensitization campaign, reaching out to residents through radio programs in districts such as Mufumbwe, Manyinga, and Kabompo. His message is clear: eligible citizens must seize this opportunity to obtain their NRCs.
Col. Katambi also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, calling on government officers and stakeholders to actively participate in awareness campaigns to ensure high turnout and smooth operations.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary underscored the need for professionalism among officers conducting the registration, warning that any misconduct will be met with disciplinary action.
This exercise not only reinforces the government’s commitment to inclusive national registration but also plays a vital role in upholding the rights of citizens to legal identity and access to public services.
