The highly anticipated Mulambo Haimbe Soccer Scouting Tournament, fully sponsored by Lusaka Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, officially kicked off today at the Municipal Sports Center (also known as Queen’s Mead Stadium).
This landmark event, is part of the MP’s Christmas initiative which aims to discover and nurture exceptional sports talent in the constituency. The tournament targets young athletes between the ages of 16 and 21 and focuses on football, offering them a platform to showcase their skills to professional scouts.
In collaboration with the World football expert Irakli Khvedeliani from FC Gagra, Georgia, Europe, the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) and Various Sports Disciplines, the inaugural tournament features inter-community football matches, highlighting the importance of grassroots sports development and the communities talent identification.
Each participating team received a token of K1,000 and a soccer ball as a gesture of appreciation for their involvement in the event.
“This tournament represents a life-changing opportunity for the youth of Lusaka Central. It is about unlocking potential, fostering dreams and positioning our constituency as a hub for talent,” Hon. Mulambo Haimbe stated.
He further emphasized, “Through community collaboration, we can create transformative experiences for our young people and contribute to Zambia’s Vision 2030 goal of developing world-class talent. Together, we will work toward making Zambia one of the leading African nations to produce top footballers.”
The tournament serves as a stepping stone in the ongoing effort to empower youth through sports, aiming to inspire future generations of talented athletes from Lusaka Central and beyond.
