Authorities are investigating a major warehouse burglary in Lusaka’s Chinika Industrial Area, where over 1,500 bags of Urea fertilizer and additional agricultural supplies were stolen in an overnight raid.
The theft, which occurred between the evening of April 20 and the early hours of April 21, targeted the Export Trading Group (ETG) facility. According to a report filed at Chinika Police Post, the discovery was made when warehouse staff arrived for work around 06:00 hours and found signs of a break-in.
Mr. Chetan Lyuvn, the Warehouse Manager and resident of Emmasdale, reported the incident, stating that all premises had been locked and secured the previous night. Despite these measures, unknown individuals gained access and made off with a large quantity of fertilizer, each bag weighing 50kg. The full value of the stolen goods is still being determined.
Lusaka Central Police have since visited the scene and confirmed that no recoveries have been made to date. A manhunt is currently underway, with authorities pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible.
Police are appealing to members of the public with any relevant information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
