Zambia proudly hosted the 2025 Presidential Annual Greeting of the Diplomatic Corps, a distinguished event underscoring the nation’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and mutual growth.
In his address, President Hakainde Hichilema warmly welcomed members of the diplomatic community, extending heartfelt wishes for a prosperous New Year.
“It is indeed a great pleasure for us to host this special occasion,” President Hichilema remarked. “We are greatly honoured by your presence and extend warm greetings and best wishes for happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.”
The President expressed deep gratitude to Zambia’s international partners for their continued support and collaboration, which have contributed to significant strides in national development.
Citing achievements such as the expansion of social cash transfers, the introduction of free education from Grade 1 to 12, innovative cash-for-work and food-for-work programs, and successful debt restructuring, he highlighted Zambia’s progress under the New Dawn Government.
“The support extended by your respective countries is truly appreciated,” President Hichilema stated. “It underscores the collaborative spirit that underpins our diplomatic relations and highlights our shared vision of fostering constructive and sustainable partnerships.”
President Hichilema also emphasized Zambia’s longstanding tradition of building enduring friendships and partnerships since gaining independence, underscoring their importance in addressing global challenges and promoting economic growth.
“Zambia has cultivated relationships that have evolved into strong partnerships over the years,” he said. “These enduring bonds are a testament to the mutual efforts of Zambia and its global counterparts in nurturing and sustaining meaningful connections.”
As the gathering concluded, the President outlined key areas where international partners can contribute to supporting our initiatives.
He called upon the diplomatic corps to renew their dedication to diplomacy and international cooperation, stressing the shared goal of creating a more interconnected, equitable and harmonious world.
The annual event remains a cornerstone of Zambia’s diplomatic calendar, fostering stronger ties between the nation and its global partners while celebrating the progress achieved through collective efforts.
