PRESIDENT HICHILEMA HOLDS HIGH-LEVEL TALKS WITH IVORIAN PRIME MINISTER ON INTRA-AFRICAN TRADE

President Hakainde Hichilema engaged in productive bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Ivory Coast, Mr. Robert Beugré Mambé, during a meeting on the sidelines of the 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The dialogue focused on strengthening intra-African trade, underscoring its pivotal role in driving sustainable economic growth and fostering regional integration.
President Hichilema emphasized the importance of prioritizing trade within the continent before seeking partnerships and investments beyond Africa, highlighting the vast untapped potential of African markets.
Both leaders agreed that enhancing intra-African trade offers transformative benefits, including economic growth, regional collaboration, job creation, market access, and knowledge exchange.
Additionally, it positions the continent to better withstand global economic disruptions by building resilient trade networks within Africa.
Under the leadership of President Hichilema, Zambia has actively championed regional economic integration and participation in global value chains.
The New Dawn administration’s dedication to expanding Zambia’s export capacity and elevating the presence of Zambian businesses on the global stage aligns seamlessly with the broader objectives of enhancing trade across the African continent.
President Hichilema is attending the 300 Africa Energy Summit at the invitation of Tanzanian President, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The summit, scheduled for January 28, 2025, will convene leaders from across the continent to explore opportunities in energy development and economic collaboration.
This high-level engagement reinforces President Hichilema’s dedication to advancing Zambia’s role in regional trade and economic partnerships, while contributing to the vision of a united and economically integrated Africa.
