President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to faith based community development with a significant personal contribution to the Southern Zambia Union Conference Dorcus Rally of the Seventh day Adventist Church, held at Rusangu Secondary School in Monze.

In a gesture that underscored the intersection of leadership, faith and community upliftment, the President donated K1.9 million, ten heads of cattle, 200 bags of mealie meal and funded the installation of a permanent water supply system at the event site. The support ensured the seamless execution of the multi day gathering and improved living conditions for thousands of participants.

The Dorcus Rally, a hallmark event of the SDA Church, focuses on spiritual empowerment, women’s ministry and outreach initiatives that promote service to humanity. This year’s event, bolstered by the President’s support, was lauded as one of the most impactful in recent history.

Dr. Vanny Munyumbwe, President of the Southern Zambia Union Conference, commended President Hichilema’s personal involvement, describing it as “a reflection of leadership that prioritizes people, faith and sustainable impact.”

The newly established water supply system is expected to deliver lasting benefits beyond the rally, improving access to clean water for both the school community and future church programs hosted at the venue.

The President’s intervention has drawn praise from religious leaders, civic stakeholders and residents across Southern Province, who have highlighted the move as an example of practical leadership that bridges spiritual growth with tangible community support.

This initiative further cements President Hichilema’s reputation for inclusive leadership that recognizes the vital role of religious institutions in national development.
