PRETORIA HIGH COURT RESERVES JUDGMENT IN LUNGU BURIAL APPEAL

The Pretoria High Court has reserved its decision in a case brought by the family of late former Zambian President Edgar Lungu, who are seeking permission to appeal an earlier ruling that ordered his remains to be repatriated for a state funeral in Zambia.
Mr. Lungu passed away in South Africa on June 5, 2025, and nearly three months later, his burial has been delayed due to a protracted standoff between his family and the Zambian government over the final resting place.
