Lusaka, Zambia.
More than 8,700 farmers across Zambia are reaping the benefits of the Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF), a transformative initiative designed to enhance agricultural productivity, promote climate-smart practices, and drive commercialization in the sector.
Since its inception, SAFF has disbursed K755.2 million, with over K640.3 million already utilized by farmers to invest in critical areas such as mechanization, improved inputs, and sustainable farming methods. The facility is a cornerstone of the Comprehensive Agricultural Transformation Support Programme (CATSP), which aims to strengthen food security and economic resilience in Zambia’s agricultural landscape.
The financing is made available through participating banks, including Indo-Zambia Bank, NATSAVE, and ZANACO, with NATSAVE emerging as the leading disburser, having issued 4,764 loans totaling K456.9 million.
The New Dawn Government continues to prioritize agricultural development through initiatives like SAFF, reinforcing its commitment to empowering farmers, increasing productivity, and securing the nation’s food supply. By fostering access to financial resources, the program is not only improving farmer incomes but also ensuring a more resilient and commercially driven agricultural sector.
