Lusaka, Zambia – March 30th, 2025.
Emotions ran high today as Francis Mukoma and Shadreck Kunda bid farewell to their families and community, embarking on a life-changing journey to Georgia for professional football trials.
Their departure marks a historic moment for the Mulambo Haimbe Soccer Scouting Tournament, an initiative by Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, MP for Lusaka Central, aimed at identifying and nurturing young talent.
The duo, who were among over 400 participants in the tournament, caught the attention of international scout Irakli Khvedeliani from FC Gagra, Georgia, securing their well-earned opportunity on the global stage.
In a heartwarming scene, the mother of one of the players was overwhelmed with emotion, shedding tears of joy as she expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Haimbe for making her son’s dream a reality.
“I never imagined this day would come. Seeing my son board a plane for international trials is beyond what I prayed for. Thank you, Honourable Haimbe, for believing in these boys and giving them this opportunity,” she said.
At the send-off event, Hon. Haimbe reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment through sports.
“This is just the beginning. We want to see more young players from our communities rise to international standards. Francis and Shadreck are carrying not just their dreams but the hopes of many young Zambians. We wish them success in Georgia!”
As they take flight to pursue their football dreams, Francis and Shadreck serve as an inspiration to young athletes across Zambia, proving that hard work, dedication, and the right support can turn dreams into reality.
