THE GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA INITIATES ISSUANCE OF HEALTH WORKERS APPOINTMENT LETTERS

In a significant move to strengthen Zambia’s healthcare sector, the Government of Zambia, through the Civil Service Commission, has officially commenced the issuance of appointment letters to newly recruited health workers.
Officiating the launch at the Lusaka Province Health Office, Civil Service Commission Chairperson, Dr. Choole Beyani, emphasize the government’s commitment to expanding the health workforce to improve service delivery nationwide.
The 2024 recruitment drive under the New Dawn Government builds upon previous successful hiring initiatives, which saw 11,276 health workers recruited in 2022 and 3,250 in 2023. This year’s intake adds 4,140 professionals to Zambia’s healthcare system, ensuring coverage across all ten provinces.
A detailed breakdown of the recruitment process shows that 3,494 health workers were selected through a district-led approach, promoting equitable staff distribution. Additionally, 646 professional cholera volunteers have been integrated into the public health system, aligning with the government’s commitment to recognizing and retaining essential healthcare personnel.
This initiative reaffirms the New Dawn government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare accessibility, strengthening human resource capacity and ensuring efficient medical service delivery across the country.
