Lusaka, August 10, 2025 — The first chalk of Zambian Battalion (ZAMBATT X) troops has safely returned home after a year-long peacekeeping mission under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
The contingent, which landed at 18:33 hours at the Zambia Air Force Base in Lusaka, was commended for its outstanding commitment to protecting civilians, maintaining peace, and supporting stability in the conflict-affected nation.
During their deployment, the troops conducted regular patrols, deterred armed groups, facilitated humanitarian aid, promoted human rights, and strengthened the rule of law. They also played a key role in securing voter registration and escorting electoral logistics in four sub-prefectures.
Deputy Director General Peace Support Operations, Colonel Mundubile Mwamba, praised the soldiers’ dedication and professionalism, noting that their service had brought pride to the Zambia Defence Force.
ZAMBATT X Senior Staff Officer for Personnel, Lt Col Ryan Bwembya Malama, expressed gratitude to Command for its support, acknowledging the challenges faced, including the loss of a soldier in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, the first chalk of ZAMBATT XI has departed for the Central African Republic to replace their colleagues. Colonel General Staff, Col Teddy Tembo, urged them to maintain discipline, professionalism, and the spirit of service.
“Command is confident that you have been adequately prepared for the task ahead and that you will make us proud in CAR,” Col Tembo said.
As the ZAMBATT X soldiers reunite with their families and the ZAMBATT XI contingent embarks on its mission, the Zambia Defence Force reaffirms its unwavering commitment to contributing to global peace and security — a duty that continues to bring honour to the nation.
