Zambia and the Dominican Republic have embarked on a promising new chapter in international collaboration, as senior officials from both nations convened in Livingstone to chart a strategic path for mutual growth in the tourism sector.

The high-level meeting brought together Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga, and the Dominican Republic’s Vice Minister of Tourism for International Cooperation, H.E. Carlos Andrés Peguero, accompanied by his delegation. This dialogue marked a pivotal step towards deepening diplomatic engagement and harnessing the untapped potential of bilateral tourism cooperation.

Central to the discussions was the pursuit of shared expertise in sustainable tourism development, investment attraction, and the exchange of technical knowledge. The Dominican Republic, renowned for its world-class tourism infrastructure and global appeal, offers Zambia valuable insights that could accelerate the diversification and growth of its own tourism sector.

Moreover, the talks extended beyond traditional tourism promotion to include educational initiatives, cultural exchange programmes, and efforts to strengthen air connectivity between the two nations. By fostering closer people-to-people ties and coordinated marketing campaigns, both countries aim to enhance their international visibility and attract a broader range of global visitors.

The Zambian Ministry of Tourism reaffirmed its commitment to translating these strategic engagements into concrete outcomes that will drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and position Zambia as a premier destination for cultural and ecological tourism.

This partnership underscores a shared vision: to build resilient, competitive, and inclusive tourism industries that contribute meaningfully to national development agendas.
