ZAMBIA AND ZIMBABWE FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

In a key step toward advancing regional integration and empowering young people, Zambia’s Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, led a delegation in high-level discussions with senior Zimbabwean officials to explore collaborative initiatives focused on sustainable youth development in both countries.

The high-level engagement, held at the office of Zimbabwe’s Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Hon. Tino Machakaire, brought together key stakeholders including Zambia’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Derick Livune, and Chairman of the Zambia-Chinese Association, Mr. Wu Ming.

The delegation, led by representatives from Zambia, engaged in substantive dialogue with Minister Machakaire on strategic collaboration frameworks that would address the pressing challenges faced by young people in the region. The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment to transforming youth potential into tangible contributions toward national and regional development.

Both parties emphasized the urgent need for coordinated efforts in policy design, skills development, and economic empowerment for the youth. Discussions focused on crafting joint programs that will provide meaningful opportunities, enhance vocational training, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

This bilateral engagement reflects a shared vision by Zambia and Zimbabwe to invest in the next generation as a cornerstone of sustainable progress. It was agreed that intergovernmental teams would continue consultations to develop actionable strategies, ensuring the youth play a central role in shaping a prosperous future for Southern Africa.

This milestone meeting not only strengthened diplomatic ties between the two countries but also underscored a united resolve to collaborate on impactful, youth-centered development policies.
