Zambia has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing regional trade, investment, and digital integration as the country participates in the 24th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe, who is representing President Hakainde Hichilema at the high-level meeting, emphasized the importance of aligning Africa’s trade and investment priorities with sustainable development goals.
Speaking to ZANIS upon arrival in Nairobi, Mr. Haimbe noted that the rapidly evolving global landscape requires African nations to intensify efforts to add value to their resources and ensure that regional engagements directly benefit their citizens.
The summit, themed “Leveraging Digitalisation to Deepen Regional Value Chains for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth,” will focus on how digital transformation can drive economic resilience and enhance value chains across the continent.
“This gathering provides Zambia with a strategic platform to advance regional cooperation, champion value addition, and highlight the importance of inclusive growth through digital innovation,” Mr. Haimbe stated.
