Global leaders, technology innovators, and policymakers have converged in Washington DC for the World Bank Group’s Global Digital Summit 2025, a landmark gathering running from March 17 to 20, 2025, under the theme “Digital Pathways for All.” Now in its second edition, the summit is serving as a premier platform for driving forward-thinking dialogue on digital innovation, policy frameworks, and scalable solutions that can accelerate inclusive digital development worldwide.

With support from the World Bank’s Digital Development Partnership (DDP), the summit is catalyzing conversations that bridge cutting-edge technology with sustainable, inclusive growth for low- and middle-income countries.
Representing Zambia at this prestigious event is the Minister of Technology and Science, Honorable Felix Chipota Mutati, MP, who underscored Zambia’s ambitious digital transformation agenda during a courtesy meeting with Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Chibamba Kanyama.
Minister Mutati outlined Zambia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy (2023–2027), which is designed to integrate digital technologies across all sectors to enhance productivity, spur job creation, and drive economic growth. The strategy focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, cultivating digital literacy, bridging the digital divide, and fostering robust public-private collaboration.
Demonstrating tangible progress, the Minister highlighted key infrastructure investments, including:
- Airtel Zambia’s commitment to roll out 152 new towers, enhancing rural and urban connectivity.
- Zamtel’s bold plan to upgrade 1,200 towers from 2G to 4G over the next 12 months, vastly improving broadband access and positioning Zambia to fully participate in the digital economy.
Zambia’s presence at the Global Digital Summit 2025 not only showcases the country’s proactive stance on digital development but also reaffirms its readiness to engage in global dialogues that shape equitable, sustainable technological growth.
As the summit advances discussions around green digital transformation, AI governance, and next-generation connectivity, Zambia stands poised to transform ambition into action — positioning itself as a regional leader in digital innovation and inclusion.
