In a show of enduring solidarity and commitment to regional integration, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa today welcomed the Secretary General of Zambia’s ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), Cde Batuke Imenda, for high-level discussions at State House in Harare.

The meeting, which also included senior political figures such as ZANU-PF Secretary for Administration Dr. Obert Mpofu, served as a strategic platform to reinforce historical alliances and explore deeper inter-party collaboration aimed at promoting stability and development in Southern Africa.

President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the historical and strategic importance of Zimbabwe-Zambia relations, stating, “Zimbabwe and Zambia are bound by unbreakable ties, rooted in a shared history and common aspirations. We remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering regional unity and advancing cooperative engagement between our parties and nations.”

This engagement forms part of broader efforts to enhance bilateral political dialogue and align development goals, particularly in areas of cross-border trade, infrastructure connectivity, and peace-building initiatives.

Speaking during the delegation, UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe highlighted that the enduring partnership between ZANU-PF and UPND reflects not only shared liberation histories but also a collective vision for a prosperous and integrated Southern Africa. He emphasized that robust inter-party relations will continue to play a crucial role in addressing regional priorities and driving socioeconomic progress.

As both nations look to the future, the dialogue signals a mutual resolve to transform historical solidarity into pragmatic action, strengthening diplomatic bridges and supporting collaborative development initiatives that benefit the entire region.
