LUSAKA PILOTS CASH FOR WORK ONLINE SYSTEM TO BOOST TRANSPARENCY

LUSAKA – May 15th 2025 – A group of over 180 citizens from Lusaka’s Kabulonga Ward 19 are participating in a mini-pilot test for the Cash for Work Online System.

The initiative, undertaken by the Lusaka City Council’s District Planning department in collaboration with SMART Zambia’s Systems Development and Support Team, aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in collection of data in the cash for work Programme.

Developed by the e-Government Division (SMART Zambia Institute), the system is designed to streamline the program implemented by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

When addressing Cash for Work beneficiaries, SMART Zambia’s National Coordinator Mr PERCY CHINYAMA underscored the importance of the online system in enhancing transparency to ensure that only intended beneficiaries benefit from the initiative.

SMART Zambia’s GCTO, Ms. KASALI MUSENGE, has expressed appreciation for the pilot phase adding that technology is being used to enhance transparency, accountability.

She further commended the Lusaka City Council and SMART Zambia teams for their collaboration in the mini pilot test of the Cash for Work Online System.

Meanwhile, Social Economic Planner at Lusaka City Council, Mr. MACMILLAN MANDEVU, provided an overview of the system to assess the effectiveness of the system in data collection.

Beneficiary Bertha Mukuka shared her gratitude for the cash for work program, highlighting its positive impact.
