PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA APPOINTS NEW DEPUTY AIR FORCE COMMANDER

Lusaka, 21st August 2025 – President Hakainde Hichilema has announced a major leadership change in the Zambia Air Force, appointing Brigadier General Henry Chiwoya as the new Deputy Air Force Commander and promoting him to the rank of Major General.

The appointment comes as Major General Kalaluka has been relieved of his duties as Deputy Air Force Commander and re-deployed into diplomatic service. President Hichilema expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Commander for his distinguished service in the Zambia Air Force and wished him success in his future endeavors.

In his announcement, the President congratulated Major General Chiwoya on his well-deserved appointment, commending his loyalty, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the Constitution and the people of Zambia. President Hichilema further expressed confidence that Major General Chiwoya will continue to uphold the values of professionalism and patriotism in serving the nation.

This decision, made in accordance with Article 91 (1) and Article 92 (2) (e) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia, underscores the President’s resolve to strengthen the leadership of the Zambia Air Force and ensure continued dedication to national defense.

The Office of the President reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a disciplined and professional defense force that protects the sovereignty of Zambia while upholding democratic values.
