AVRAM GRANT RESIGNS AS CHIPOLOPOLO COACH AFTER MUTUAL AGREEMENT WITH FAZ

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the resignation of Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant, following a mutual agreement between the two parties to bring his tenure to an end.

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande confirmed the development, describing the decision as a joint and amicable step toward charting a new path for the national team.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant have mutually agreed to separate following his resignation. We wish Mr. Grant success in his future endeavours,” said Shepande.

“Further details will be communicated in due course, but we extend our gratitude to him for his contribution to Zambian football.”

Grant, who took over the Chipolopolo reins on December 22, 2022, on a two-year deal, leaves after guiding Zambia to back-to-back AFCON qualifications — for the 2024 and 2025/26 tournaments.

Zambia is set to compete at the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali, and Comoros.

His resignation marks the end of a significant chapter in Zambia’s football journey, as FAZ prepares to usher in a new era for the national team.
