The government has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of seven people along the Solwezi-Chingola Road in Mushindamo District, North Western Province.
The accident, which occurred on July 24, 2025, at Lunga Bridge, involved a bus carrying 36 passengers that collided with a protruding load from an oncoming truck, resulting in the immediate deaths of seven individuals.
North Western Province Permanent Secretary, Colonel Grandson Wishikoti Katambi, visited the accident victims at the hospital and conveyed the government’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families while wishing a swift recovery to those who sustained injuries in the incident.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families and the entire community as we stand together in this time of grief,” Colonel Katambi stated. He was accompanied by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Luckson Mulumbi during the hospital visit.
As the province mourns, the government has urged all motorists to exercise maximum caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
“We call upon every road user to prioritise safety and vigilance, ensuring that tragedies like this are avoided in the future,” Colonel Katambi added.
The government has pledged support to the affected families during this difficult period, praying for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace and for God’s comfort upon all who are mourning.
