Itezhi-Tezhi, Southern Province, Zambia.
In a significant milestone for healthcare delivery in Itezhi Tezhi District, the hospital’s theatre room has undergone a major facelift, with the installation of over 17 brand new pieces of modern medical equipment. This development replaces outdated and obsolete machinery, marking a critical improvement in the quality of health services provided to the local community.
For years, residents of Itezhi-Tezhi have been compelled to travel long distances to Lusaka and Namwala for basic medical services, including simple X-ray scans, due to the lack of functional equipment at the district hospital. The refurbishment of the theatre room is, therefore, a welcome relief that will enhance access to essential surgical and diagnostic services closer to home.
This achievement is a testament to the New Dawn Government’s continued commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure across the country, in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of delivering quality healthcare for all Zambians.
“As we continue to lobby for the construction of a new district hospital, we are pleased to see tangible progress being made. Slowly but surely, we are moving in the right direction under the able leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema,”Said Twaambo Mutinta, Itezhi Tezhi Member of Parliament.
The government’s efforts to modernize healthcare facilities reflect its broader development agenda of decentralizing services, reducing disparities in rural health access and uplifting the living standards of all citizens.
This latest development in Itezhi-Tezhi not only strengthens the local health system but also underscores the New Dawn Administration’s resolve to bring meaningful change to underserved communities.
