President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Windhoek to participate in a momentous occasion: the inauguration of Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as Namibia’s Fifth President and the country’s first female Head of State. This landmark event is set to coincide with Namibia’s 35th Independence Anniversary, to be celebrated on March 21st.
Upon his arrival, President Hichilema made a solemn visit to Heroes’ Acre, where he laid a wreath in honor of Namibia’s Founding President, the late Dr. Sam Nujoma. In his tribute, President Hichilema paid deep respect to Dr. Nujoma and his contemporaries, acknowledging their immense sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the liberation of Namibia and the broader African continent.
Reflecting on their legacy, President Hichilema emphasized that the current generation of leaders continues to draw strength and inspiration from the vision, courage, and resilience of those who fought for freedom. He reaffirmed Zambia’s solidarity with Namibia and the shared aspiration to advance not only political freedom but also the economic emancipation and sustainable development of Africa.
“As leaders, we remain mindful of the debt we owe to Dr. Nujoma and his generation. Their sacrifices laid the foundation for the progress we see today. It is our solemn duty to honor that legacy by fostering prosperity, unity, and opportunity for all Africans,” President Hichilema said.
He concluded his message by offering prayers for the soul of Dr. Nujoma and his compatriots, expressing hope that their enduring legacy will continue to guide the continent toward a brighter future.
