The Government of Zambia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, will undertake a State Visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 23rd to 25th February 2025.
This high-level visit underscores Zambia’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Egypt, a longstanding strategic partner. It will serve as a key platform to enhance bilateral cooperation in priority sectors, including Energy, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Trade and Investment, Health, Transport, and Tourism.
During the visit, President Hichilema will hold substantive discussions with His Excellency Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, focusing on areas of mutual interest. These deliberations are expected to culminate in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at fostering collaboration and unlocking new economic opportunities.
A key highlight of the visit will be a Business Forum jointly organized by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and Egypt’s General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFFI). This forum will facilitate meaningful engagements between Zambian and Egyptian business communities, further advancing Zambia’s agenda of Economic Diplomacy and strengthening trade and investment partnerships.
Zambia and Egypt share deep-rooted diplomatic ties based on shared values and common development aspirations. The visit provides an opportunity to reinforce these relations while leveraging Egypt’s expertise in climate-smart agriculture and sustainable farming practices to enhance Zambia’s agricultural sector.
President Hichilema is scheduled to return to Zambia following the conclusion of his official engagements.
