Lusaka, Zambia.
The Salvation Army Women’s Ministry in Lusaka South East Division recently held a dynamic fundraising event at the Libala Temple, rallying support for the construction of a 1×2 flat as part of their long-term sustainability and community outreach initiatives.
Rev. Dr. William Njombo, Chairperson for Religious Affairs and Chaplaincy Services (RACS) under the UPND and an aspiring Mayor of Lusaka, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Commending the Women’s Ministry for its steadfast commitment to uplifting vulnerable populations, Rev. Dr. Njombo underscored the critical role of self-sufficiency among faith-based institutions.
He reaffirmed the UPND government’s commitment to partnering with the church in addressing poverty and empowering communities economically. Drawing parallels between the Salvation Army’s mission and government policy, he encouraged the ministry to leverage funding avenues such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) to further their initiatives.
In his remarks, Rev. Dr. Njombo also touched on key national issues, including the proposed Constitutional Amendments and the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act. He called on the church to play an active role in advocating for these reforms and to lead community education efforts, particularly in safeguarding vulnerable groups from cyber threats.
His presence and address served as a beacon of encouragement, offering strategic insights that are poised to accelerate the ministry’s impact. The event was a powerful testament to the strength of collaboration between faith-based organizations and government in fostering sustainable development and social transformation.
