SPORTS MINISTER HAILS U-17 GIRLS FOR COSAFA VICTORY

Lusaka, Saturday, 17th May 2025 – The Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, MP, has congratulated the Zambia Under-17 Girls National Team for their emphatic 3–0 win over Malawi in the final of the 2025 COSAFA Girls’ Championship held in Windhoek, Namibia.

The Copper Princesses secured their third COSAFA title, adding to their recent achievement of qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be hosted in Morocco later this year.

Hon. Nkandu has praised the team’s discipline and teamwork, describing the victory as “a proud moment for Zambia and a clear sign of the progress in women’s football.”

He has further commended the technical bench led by Coach Carol Kanyemba and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for their leadership, planning, and support in nurturing young talent and raising the standard of the women’s game.
